SPACE (Self-Paced Applications in a Computer Environment)

SPACE provides participants with self-paced training in the windows 7 operating system and the Microsoft Office 2013 applications in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  QuickBooks 2013 training is also available.  There are two levels of SPACE available, as well as four concentrations.


Levels of SPACE:

SPACE  Basic:  This course is recommended for participants who are interested in basic computer operation and entry-level clerical positions.  You will learn basic keyboarding skills and the Windows 7 operating system, as well as the basic and intermediate skills of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

SPACE Advanced:  This course is recommended for participants who are interested in learning the advanced skills of keyboarding and Microsoft Word and Excel.  SPACE Basic is a prerequisite for this course.


Concentrations

Receptionist & Information Clerk:  For those who will be answering inquiries and providing information to the general public, customers, visitors and other interested parties regarding activities conducted at the establishment and location of departments, offices and employees within the organization.  This course teaches basic computer skills, including typing skills.  Each participant will have a basic understanding of the Microsoft Office programs and will utilize a personal e-mail address.  Participants also learn workplace basics and receive lessons on job success, including time management and organizational lessons.

Customer Service Representative:  For those who will be handling customer complaints, processing orders, and providing information about an organization's products and services.  This position is ideal for an individual who enjoys helping others in an office environment.  This course teaches intermediate computer skills, including 10-key and typing skills.  Each participant will have a solid understanding of the Microsoft Office programs and will utilize a person e-mail address.  Participants will also have a major focus on communication skills as well as customer service skills.

Bookkeeping, Accounting and Auditing Clerk:  For those who will be producing financial records for the organization, recording financial transactions, updating statements and checking financial records for accuracy.  It is highly recommended that participants possess a strong aptitude towards accounting.  This course teaches intermediate computer skills, including QuickBooks Pro, 10-key and typing skills.  Participants will also focus on communication and customer service skills, as well as workplace basics, job success, time management and organization.

Executive Secretary & Administrative Assistant:  For those who will be performing routine clerical and administrative functions such as drafting correspondence, scheduling appointments, organizing and maintaining paper and electronic files or providing information to callers.  This course teaches intermediate computer skills, including 10-key and typing skills.  Participants will also focus on communication and customer service skills, as well as workplace basics, job success, time management and organization.
