PRESS RELEASE:
Claxton Elementary School
Friday, August 26, 2020
Time: 11:00 a.m.
As a child, I attended Claxton Elementary School for 8-years. My class was the very last class to attend the 8th Grade at Claxton.
When I got married to my wife Debbie, we made our home in the Claxton Community. All three of my children attended Claxton before moving on, at that time, Clinton Junior High School.
My wife is an avid reader and she worked every "Book Fair" held at Claxton Elementary. Her and the other volunteers would go the extra mile to help kids who really couldn't afford them to have a book. She did this every year while one of our kids were at Claxton.
When I became a County Commissioner in September 2002, no one is really aware of the sacrifice the spouse makes to support her husband. It's hard to say how many birthdays, special events, etc. that I missed being a Commissioner. In honor of my wife Debbie for the sacrifices she had to make over the past 20 years and for her desire to see all children to learn how to read, I'm scheduling the following event as my last action as a County Commissioner.
Using the last of my money I have in my Waste Management Account + adding to it a personal contribution, I'm planning on making a major contribution to the Claxton Elementary School Library as follows:
Chuck Fritts (Retiring)
Commissioner, District 1
